It's a cosy cowl that I think will be great once it gets properly cold here. The pattern is Seashore Cowl from Starling Knits and Crafts.
This photo is terrible - I do apologise! |
I altered the pattern a little, as I wanted a longer and narrower cowl than the pattern gives. Mine is three repeats of the lace with 20 rows of stocking stitch in between each.
This is a more accurate representation of the colours. |
I haven't blocked it yet, and don't know whether to. I'm not sure the pure silk will hold a blocking very well and I don't think it will make much difference to the Angel.
I used about 3/4 of a skein of silk (so around 300 metres) and one ball of the Debbie Bliss Angel. I actually bought 3 balls of Angel, I'm tempted to get some more to make a plain sweater.
Very pretty! I'm surprised you got that much cowl out of one ball of Angel and 3/4 of the silk! Great travel project!
ReplyDeleteYes, I was pretty surprised that it took so little yarn.
DeleteVery pretty Sam, I like the chunky cowls but yours is so delicate, it's lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's very warm despite it's delicacy.
DeleteThat is such a pretty cowl Sam - I agree, blocking seems a bit redundant for this sort of shape. Love the colours, and a jumper in Angel would be so cosy.
ReplyDeleteHi Sam - I think I didn't post my earlier comment - but if two arrive, you'll know what happened! I love this cowl - it's so pretty and cosy, and gorgeous colours. A jumper in Angel would be so lovely :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. As you can see I got them both! The only thing that concerns me about a jumper in Angel is that it might be itchy, but I could always wear something underneath it.
DeleteSuch a lovely cowl! I like that you mixed the two different yarns, it adds to the design of the cowl. And then in pink and purple - my favorite colors. Good choice :) I hope you have decided to make the jumper, it will be so nice and coy in winter!
