About Me

Hi, I’m Samantha, although almost no one calls me that.  I’m normally Sam, occasionally Sammie, and Samantha only in formal situations (or if I’ve done something naughty.  As a child I knew I’d been REALLY naughty when I was called Samantha Jane!)

I've been sewing for as long as I can remember.  I wanted to be a fashion designer when I left school, but that unfortunately never happened, so now I use my sewing skills to create one of a kind outfits for myself.  I also do the occasional commission for friends.

I love passing on my sewing knowledge to others and as well as working fulltime as a building surveyor I teach dressmaking and free motion embroidery classes.

Some fun facts about me:

Pretty much the only thing I love doing more than creating things is reading.

At school I studied both maths and art at A Level, and was the only person in my year to do so.

I have a younger sister who is adopted.

I have a secret passion for stationary, I love pens and notebooks!

I can’t ride a bike, or whistle.

I often drive around 500 miles a week (or more) for work.

I love living in a small town with countryside on my doorstep and would never want to live in a city.

I’d rather go without a glass of wine than a cup of tea, but I must admit I do enjoy a nice glass of chilled rose wine!

My favourite book is Pride and Prejudice, but I didn’t read it for the first time until after I’d watched the BBC’s adaptation with Colin Firth as Mr Darcy.
