Hi, I’m Sam and I've been sewing for as long as I can remember. I love passing on my sewing knowledge to others and as well as working fulltime as a building surveyor I teach dressmaking and free motion embroidery classes.
I learnt free motion embroidery a few years ago when I was given a class as a birthday present and fell in love with the technique immediately. It's like drawing with a sewing machine and enables me to combine my love of art with my love of fabrics and sewing.
I've recently begun creating free motion embroidered portraits - of both people and things - and have found that this has developed my creativity further. In the past few months I have undertaken commissions as diverse as David Bowie in his Ziggy Stardust guise through to a beloved motorbike.
