Work in Progress: Cabernet Sauvignon wrap

There's still not much sewing (if any) going on around these parts, but I have been knitting quite a bit.

I have one sleeve left to do on my Meridien cardigan I posted about a while ago, but the project I'm really enjoying at the moment is a shawl/wrap.   It's the Cabernet Sauvignon pattern by Monika Sirna .

I fell in love with this design as soon as I saw it on Ravelry, and someone very kindly gave me the pattern as a gift soon afterwards.  I've been hunting for the perfect yarn, and a couple of weeks ago I found it.

I'm not normally one for following the colour chosen by the designer, but in this case I had to go for something similar.

Here's my progress shot.

As you can see, my choice is pretty similar.  I'm using Shibui Sock yarn in the Peony colourway.  It's slightly deeper in real life, a real deep peony pink.  My wrap won't be quite as big as the original, as I couldn't get quite enough of the yarn, but I think it should be large enough to wrap around my neck/shoulders cosily.   It should look gorgeous over the navy coat I'm planning on making once I get myself back into sewing mode again.

In the meantime, any advice on how to get my sewing mojo (sew-jo?) back?

  1. It's lovely Sam, I really like the colour. I'm feeling 'yarny' at the moment, I'm putting it down to the weather! I think your sew jo will materialise as quickly as it went away - wedding dress burn out I suspect :)

    1. I think you're right Jacq, it's a combination of wedding dress burnout and still getting over the sinus/throat infection I had. Can feel the sew-jo returning, which is good because I've got some exciting things in the offing.

  2. Loving the colour and pattern you've chosen. It'll be stunning. It looks like rather a fun knit too.
I'd just quietly wait for that mojo. Don't sweat it. Trust that it'll come. Cos it will. X

    1. It is a really fun knit, and much easier than it initially looks too.

  3. I just came across this Cabernet series last week, and I love all the patterns! So cool you are making the wrap. Love that color - it will look amazing with navy.

I had a sewjo slump too, for about a month. I think it's gone now, with the completion of my Anna dress. It happens to me from time to time, and if I wait long enough, it just seems to go away :-)

    1. All the Cabernet patterns are lovely, aren't they? I'm not stressing too much about the lack of sewing being done, other than that I've got loads of things on the list to do!
